When you need one
Cars, motorbikes and vans need their first MOT when they are three years old, and a test every year after that. You can have an MOT up to one month before your current certificate expires and keep the same renewal date.
Driving without a valid MOT is an offence except when you are travelling to or from a pre-booked test, so it is worth booking early rather than leaving it to the deadline.
If your vehicle fails
You will be given the listed reasons. We price each repair against your specific model and send the quote to you to accept or decline — nothing is started without your approval. A partial retest within the allowed window is free of the test fee itself; the workshop labour to put things right is quoted separately.

What to bring
- Your V5C log book, if the vehicle has never been tested with us.
- Any previous repair notes for advisory items on your last certificate.
MOT and service together
Most customers book the two together. An MOT checks roadworthiness; a service follows the manufacturer's maintenance schedule for your engine. Doing them in one visit means one journey and one bill, and the service items are quoted at the same time as the test.
